Stylist & Owner
I’m excited to share a little bit about me and I can't wait to learn about you, as well.
I was born and raised right here in Irmo. I'm a small-town girl, but I love it here. I’m an only child. Although I didn't have siblings, I was very close with my cousin. From the time I was 6 until I was 12, My Mom and I lived with my cousin Angel and my aunt Debbie. It was like having a sister because Angel was just a year older than me and we were very close. We lived right next to Irmo Elementary School.
I was always the youngest in my grade, and my birthday is in September. This, along with knocking out my needed credits for graduating quickly, allowed me to graduate high school when I was 16. I had no idea what I wanted to do. After many jobs in multiple fields, I ended up in call-centers. I worked for years as a bill collector, then as a customer service representative in an insurance company. After years of working on telephones, behind desks, going through a divorce, and just finishing up with bankruptcy, I knew I needed more.
In 2009, when I was 26 I signed up for cosmetology school. I dove in headfirst, fell in love with the beauty industry, and knew I had made the right decision. When I was in beauty school, it was hard. I was a single mom with a toddler, and I worked as a bartender at night to make it work. I was tired all the time but I was motivated. In 2010, as soon as I graduated, The Velvet Edge came to be and the rest is history. I live in gratitude every day for what has happened to get me where I am today.
When I’m not working, I am a wanderer. I love to travel with my husband Ryan, my fourteen-year-old son Dylan and our pups. We love to explore, camp (the real kind), and discover new things.
I’ve taken trips that are weeks long with my girlfriends where we have slept in vans that we’ve rented, drove thousands of miles, and seen the most beautiful of places.
My favorites were The Grand Canyon- North and South Rim, Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Colorado, Lake Powell, Lower Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Las Vegas, Hoover Dam, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Glacier National Park, and there are so many other places I want to go. We now have our own camper van that we dream of taking to every corner of the country.
Things I love:
Sunday mornings with nothing to do
discovering forgotten places
pasta with a side of pizza
piles of puppies
